Yarn Bowl 04

The rich earthy green of the moss of my lawn … that’s what this porcelain yarn bowl reminds me of. It has a coolness and a warmth when held, and the distinct impressions in the inside the bottom draw your eye in.

A crack developed prior to firing, and it was repaired with “slip”, but the different or mixed clay make-up takes the coloration of the glaze differently than the body of the bowl. This does not impact the sturdiness or function of the bowl in any way, and perhaps adds character … in a similar way as the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi, but without the gold.

As a result of the one-at-a-time hand-crafted process, there are many variations in color, texture, shape and inherent “flaws”.
I try to describe any characteristics that might be considered flaws, and I hope you love your bowl for it’s beautiful uniqueness.
